Psychotherapy has been my life’s study, my life’s work. I studied psychology and sociology as an undergraduate, and earned a Master’s degree in Counselor Education, all at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. I worked in the counseling field for three years, then returned to graduate school for a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. After a few years of working in agencies and hospitals, I began private practice in 1991. I consider my patients and my groups my most valued sources of education and experience. In addition I have been devoted to my own ongoing training through psychotherapy, supervision (talking with mentors about my work), and teaching and training of students and clinicians.
